Holiday closures

Because New Year’s Day fell on Sunday, the holiday is observed today. The following schedule will be in effect:

Offices: All city, county and federal offices and courts will be closed.

* Mail: There will be no mail delivery, and post offices will be closed.

* Libraries: Libraries will be closed.

* Banks: Most banking institutions will be closed.

* Schools: Public schools will be closed.

* Public transportation:

MTA buses will run on a Sunday schedule. San Bernardino and Orange County Metrolink trains will run on a holiday schedule; all other Metrolink lines will not run. A Metrolink ticket will be good for a free connection to the Metro Gold Line to the Rose Parade. The Gold Line will run about every eight minutes.

* Trash collection: There will be no trash collection.
