Israeli troops killed five Palestinians in the West Bank in their largest military sweep since Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip last summer.
Three of the dead were gunmen killed during a shootout in the Balata refugee camp.
A 19-year-old was killed when soldiers opened fire on teenagers throwing stones, and a 22-year-old was shot dead as he stood on his roof, witnesses said. The military said the first was holding a firebomb and the second was an armed fugitive.
