CBS gives ‘Monkey’ its freedom

It seems as if CBS has fallen out of love with its favorite monkey. Network publicist Beth Haiken confirmed Thursday that, after three airings, “Love Monkey” is “on hiatus with no scheduled return.”
In English, that means the show has been canceled. In Hollywood, it means the show could possibly become summer filler, because five episodes have not yet aired.
“Love Monkey,” starring Tom Cavanagh as a record company executive, drew 8.6 million viewers for its Jan. 17 premiere, 7.7 million for its second episode Jan. 24 and 5.4 million Tuesday, according to figures from Nielsen Media Research.
Reruns of “NCIS” and “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” will be shown in “Love Monkey’s” 10-11 p.m. time slot the next two Tuesdays.
