Devine leads Santa Barbara

Chris Devine scored 11 of his game-high 25 points in the last three minutes Saturday to help UC Santa Barbara beat visiting Cal State Fullerton, 84-76, in a Big West Conference game.

The Gauchos (10-3, 2-0) led by as many as 17 points in the first half. Scott Cutley led the Titans (10-3, 1-1) with 25 points and nine rebounds, rallying them to within 42-33 at halftime.

Marcus Crenshaw’s three-point basket pulled Fullerton even at 53-53 with 10:12 to go, but Devine’s baseline jumper put Santa Barbara back on top for good.

Alex Harris had 16 points and nine rebounds for the Gauchos.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 67, UC Riverside 64 -- Derek Stockalper’s layup with 23 seconds left clinched the victory for the host Mustangs in a Big West game.

Stockalper’s shot was one of three key baskets by the Mustangs (6-6, 1-1) late in the game. Trae Clark and Titus Shelton made turnaround jumpers to give them a 65-61 lead.

Larry Cunningham made a three-point basket with 42.9 seconds left to pull Riverside (3-10, 0-2) to within 65-64.

Pacific 68, Cal State Northridge 64 -- Anthony Brown scored a game-high 21 points to lead the host Tigers in the Big West opener for both teams.

Pacific (4-9), the three-time defending Big West regular-season champion, stretched its conference winning streak to 11 games dating to last season.

Long Beach State 74, Manhattan 61 -- With the score tied, 41-41, with 15:56 remaining at Long Beach, Aaron Nixon led a 13-2 run, giving the 49ers a 54-43 lead. The Jaspers never got any closer than six points the rest of the way.

The 49ers (9-4) have won seven in a row and improved to 4-0 at home. The Jaspers (3-8) fell to 1-4 on the road.

UC Irvine 68, UC Davis 48 -- Freshman Michael Hunter scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half to help the Anteaters (6-8) win their first game on the road in eight tries.

The Aggies (1-10) led, 28-27, early in the second half before Irvine went on a 30-11 run in 11 minutes to take a 57-37 lead with 5:46 left to play. The Anteaters held the Aggies to two baskets over the last 12:19.
