Roenick’s hat trick helps Coyotes defeat Sharks, 8-0
Curtis Joseph stopped 40 shots Saturday night for his 437th career victory and the Phoenix Coyotes defeated the San Jose Sharks, 8-0, at Glendale, Ariz.
Jeremy Roenick, who had only one goal in his previous 31 games, scored three goals for the Coyotes, 8-2-1 in their last 11 home games.
Vancouver 6, Edmonton 2 -- Daniel Sedin had two goals and an assist to help the Canucks win at Edmonton, Canada.
New Jersey 2, New York Islanders 0 -- Martin Brodeur stopped 29 shots at Uniondale, N.Y., for his league-leading sixth shutout.
Ottawa 3, Toronto 2 -- Chris Phillips scored at 2:39 of overtime and the Senators rallied to win at Toronto.
Nashville 5, Boston 0 -- Chris Mason stopped 38 shots and the Predators blanked the Bruins at Nashville.
St. Louis 2, Colorado 0 -- Manny Legace made 33 saves at St. Louis and the Blues defeated the Avalanche for the second game in a row.
New York Rangers 4, Washington 1 -- Petr Prucha scored two goals to help the Rangers stop a seven-game losing streak and end a scoreless streak of 153 minutes 38 seconds in a fight-filled game at Madison Square Garden.
Buffalo 4, Atlanta 1 -- Thomas Vanek had two goals at Buffalo, N.Y., in a battle between the top teams in the Eastern Conference.
Tampa Bay 3, Montreal 1 -- Vinny Prospal ended a personal 20-game goal-scoring drought with a tiebreaking second-period goal, helping the Lightning to victory at Tampa, Fla.
