Sabres finish sweep of Hurricanes
Ryan Miller made 29 saves, and Ales Kotalik scored on a penalty shot to help the Buffalo Sabres beat the Carolina Hurricanes, 4-1, on Thursday night in New York.
Jason Pominville, Chris Drury and Thomas Vanek also scored for Buffalo, which completed a four-game season sweep of Carolina, the team that beat the Sabres in the Eastern Conference finals last season.

Philadelphia 4, Tampa Bay 3 -- Simon Gagne scored two goals, Peter Forsberg had three assists and Robert Esche made 42 saves, helping the visiting Flyers end a franchise-record, 10-game losing streak.

Phoenix 3, San Jose 2 -- Yanic Perreault scored on a wraparound with 40.9 seconds to play, and the Coyotes recovered from blowing a two-goal lead at San Jose.

Detroit 7, Columbus 4 -- Dan Cleary scored the winning goal with 5:19 left to complete his first career three-goal game for the visiting Red Wings. Cleary has a career-high 17 goals.
