A fierce gun battle broke out between Hamas and Fatah militants in Gaza City, underscoring the fragility of a truce in factional Palestinian violence. No injuries were reported.
The 20-minute clash erupted when Hamas fighters tried to free two kidnapped militants. The fight drew in guards outside the residence of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah and Hamas militiamen guarding the home of Foreign Minister Mahmoud Zahar. Abbas was not home.
