Shot beats mist in blocking adult flu

The first direct comparison of the flu shot and the new FluMist inhalable vaccine found shots more effective in adults.
The study found that a needle in the arm was 67% to 77% successful at preventing the flu. The nasal spray was 30% to 57% effective, according to the federally funded study of 1,250 adults, published in Thursday’s New England Journal of Medicine.
