Justices’ reversal of 9th Circuit ruling

Re “Victim-photo ruling is reversed,” Dec. 12
I was happy to read that the Supreme Court overturned the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals’ decision in the murder trial of Matthew Musladin. How the 9th Circuit determined that wearing buttons with pictures of a murdered love one violates a criminal’s rights is beyond comprehension.
The Supreme Court is sending a loud message to the 9th Circuit to stop trying to rewrite the Constitution with bad decisions. This message is way overdue. We are a nation of laws, and criminals should be punished.

Re “Not so fast, 9th Circuit,” editorial, Dec. 12
One can only hope that your characterization of the Supreme Court’s overturning of the 9th Circuit finding in the San Jose case as “rebuff” and “wrist slapping” is not a factual assessment of how our system of jurisprudence works under any circumstances.
