16 Saudis return from Guantanamo
From Times Wire Reports
Sixteen Saudis released from the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, returned home and were being held by Saudi authorities to determine whether they have terrorist ties.
The new arrivals bring to 53 the number of Saudis released from Guantanamo. An additional 75 remain, said Kateb Shimri, a lawyer who represents relatives of Saudis held at Guantanamo.
The Saudis’ departure brings the number of detainees at the prison to about 415, a Pentagon spokesman said.
