A Torrance gang member was sentenced Thursday to 50 years to life for his part in a Fullerton shootout six years ago that left one man dead and three others seriously wounded.
Yong Bae Hong, 24, was convicted of driving one of the cars in the September 2000 battle between Torrance and Orange County gangs near Emery Park that killed Russell Su.
Another gang member implicated in the shooting -- Jason Liu, 37, who is on Orange County’s most-wanted list -- is believed to have fled to Taiwan or South Korea, and a third man, Kevin Kim, 26, is scheduled to begin trial for murder Dec. 18.
The shootout reportedly stemmed from a verbal altercation that began in a Garden Grove bar.
