In support of wild boar hunts
RESPONDING to Edward Rutkowski’s letter regarding the Nov. 12 article on hunting wild boar: Rutkowski is entitled not to hunt if he feels it is disgusting or, for him, unethical. But hunting wild boar is necessary.
It should be remembered that the wild boar is nonnative to this area. Wild boar are a pest to domestic pig production and, as the perfect omnivore, decimate food resources for all other game and non-game animals. Boar hunters do a service to the economy and ecology of California.
