Philanthropists donate $13 Million to hospital
South Bay philanthropists Melanie and Richard Lundquist have donated $13 million for two programs at Torrance Memorial Medical Center, hospital officials announced.
The amount represents the largest single donation in the medical center’s history; $10 million is earmarked to establish a cardiovascular institute, and $3 million will be used to expand emergency services.
The Lundquists, who own a development company and have contributed to numerous cultural, educational and other nonprofit organizations, chose the medical center’s annual holiday fundraising event Friday to reveal their donation.
