Fighting AIDs

Re “AIDS campaign aimed at minorities,” Nov. 29

Finally, there is an AIDS campaign aimed at minorities, where it is needed the most. It is frightening to know that 72% of Latinos and 53% of blacks don’t realize that they have the HIV virus until a year before they get sick with AIDS. I understand the stigma that might fall on a person who admits having AIDS. But it is more important and even better to know and do something about it than to let the illness consume your life and the lives of those who love you.

This campaign will bring hope for those who otherwise will die ahead of time for lack of knowledge and treatment.
