Another score for Andre Braugher
A sleight of hand scored Andre Braugher an Emmy Sunday.
Braugher won for outstanding lead actor in a movie or miniseries for FX’s “Thief.” But the win was a bit of a rope-a-dope, because “Thief” was neither a movie nor a miniseries.
“Thief” was a low-rated series that was not renewed after its initial six episodes, leaving several loose plot ends untied. But FX pulled a fast one by submitting the drama as a miniseries. The ploy obviously worked for Braugher, who previously had been nominated five times and won an Emmy as outstanding lead actor in a drama series in 1998 for his role as Det. Frank Pembleton in “Homicide: Life on the Street.”
Braugher did not thank FX in his acceptance speech.
