Reward bad parenting?
Re “Accord Reached Over Fatal Shooting,” April 13
The shooting of 13-year-old Devin Brown was a tragedy; as a parent of a 12-year-old son, I can empathize with his mother’s grief. However, giving her $1.5 million is like rewarding her for being a bad parent. Let’s face it -- if the kid was already out drinking and stealing cars at age 13, he was on the fast track to becoming a statistic. I say give the money to Officer Steven Garcia, who shot Brown and will most likely be scarred for life for simply doing his job.
