A Riverside County sheriff’s deputy shot and critically wounded a man Friday who pointed a rifle at the deputy and ignored a command to drop the weapon, authorities said.
Deputies responded to the man’s home, in the 1000 block of 7th Street, after receiving a 911 call from a person reporting that his father had chased him with a knife.
When deputies entered the home, they saw blood in the kitchen and began searching the house.
When they entered a bedroom, they were confronted by the man holding the rifle.
Authorities did not identify the wounded man or the deputy involved in the shooting.
