Rio rooms that are Copacabana close

“MY wife, Mary, and I traveled to Rio de Janeiro for a New Year’s getaway vacation. We stayed at a wonderful guesthouse called the Rio Guest House. The owners, Marta and John Miller, are great hosts. (She is a Rio native, and he is Australian.)

“Their guesthouse is made up of two penthouse floors divided into six suites, across the street from Copacabana Beach. The guesthouse is at the southern end of Copacabana, a 10-minute walk to Ipanema Beach.

“My wife and I alternated between the beaches each day.

“The event that delighted and enchanted us was Marta and John’s spectacular New Year’s Eve party.

“They hold this party at their guesthouse every year for their friends and guests. We had a panoramic view of the fireworks show in Copacabana Bay and watched the many thousands of people partying on the beach until dawn.

“We thoroughly enjoyed the accommodations, and the price was reasonable, given the quantity and quality of service they provided.”
