City Seeking Bids for Waste Removal Services
- Share via
With the clock running out on its contract to take nearly 1 million tons of trash to Sunshine Canyon each year, the city of Los Angeles will solicit bids from companies offering a range of waste disposal methods.
Bids will be accepted from companies to take trash out of state and from firms that burn trash and convert it to energy, according to city documents.
The city may still choose to extend the Sunshine Canyon pact for five years, but Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has said he wants to explore other options. The contract with Sunshine Canyon expires June 30.
