One of Nation’s Oldest Chimps Is Put to Death

A 57-year-old chimpanzee named Sam, one of the oldest chimps in the nation, was euthanized Tuesday at the Sacramento Zoo.
The chimp had congestive heart failure, arthritis and colitis. He was brought to California from an African jungle in 1950.
