Going for the glam

Los Angeles designer Jaime Rummerfield’s trademark look celebrates Hollywood’s Golden Age. Here’s how to feel like a starlet at home.

Set the stage: For a dramatic backdrop, paint walls in dark tones, such as burgundy. High contrast, such as black and white, also works.

Properly accessorize: This is a layered, fun look -- like playing dress up. Surround yourself with objets d’art, perfume bottles or beautiful glassware on a silver tray.

Don’t go overboard: Try it in just one room -- the boudoir or bathroom.

Let it stand alone: Don’t mix this opulent era with other styles. Your home will appear random or freakish. Glam doesn’t translate well in homes with country sofas.
