The yield on an index of 100 corporate junk bonds tracked by KDP Investment Advisors jumped to a five-month high of 6.89% on Monday from 6.84% on Friday. Junk bond prices have been falling, driving yields up, amid concerns about the trend in interest rates in general and on worries about financial woes at General Motors.
