Thank you for your excellent coverage of the foley show [“The Foley Field Is Some Racket,” July 10] that the Motion Picture Sound Editors produced Wednesday night at the Egyptian Theater. We sincerely appreciated the coverage of the event.
However, I am somewhat mystified by the fact that the organization that created and produced the event (as well as supplied the entire crew and most of the equipment for the night) was not even mentioned in your article. We produced this show at considerable expense and with a considerable time investment from our all-volunteer crew and would appreciate the recognition for our effort.
Our organization is over 50 years old and is dedicated to raising the public’s awareness of the art of the soundtrack, and events such as this are extremely important to fulfilling our mission. The fact that a major newspaper did not credit us for our work is very distressing.
In addition, it is traditional that our members be given the letters MPSE after their names as is accorded to members of the ASC or ACE.
