From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The county Board of Supervisors canceled a $7.5-million contract Tuesday with a private foster care agency accused of misspending taxpayer funds and paying an excessive salary to its executive director.
Refugio Para Ninos, based in West Covina, will lose its funding in 90 days in the wake of a critical report issued last week by county auditors.
The supervisors also asked county children’s welfare officials to find another agency that could take over Refugio’s caseload of 425 foster children and its employees.
