The union representing 6,000 teaching assistants officially signed its first contract with the 23-campus California State University system Monday.
The two sides reached a tentative agreement on the three-year pact in May. It was later formally ratified by members of Local 4123 of the United Auto Workers and by the Cal State Board of Trustees.
The union’s members include graduate and undergraduate students who teach, tutor and grade at Cal State campuses. According to the union, the agreement will raise the pay of its members by a minimum of 3.5%.
