Record Set as Girl Is Millionth Visitor to This Year’s O.C. Fair
A 7-year-old Anaheim girl on Sunday became the millionth person to visit the Orange County Fair this year, an official said. It was the first time in the 113 years of the fair, which opened July 8 and closed at midnight Sunday, that it drew a million people.
The girl, whom fair officials identified only as Rebecca, arrived at the gates with her parents about 12:45 p.m., fair spokesman Jeff Willson said.
“At first she was a little in shock,” he said of the girl, who was rewarded with a gift of free carnival ride tickets and a lifetime fair pass. “Then she started warming up to the attention.”
The fair’s previous record was set last year, when 963,984 people attended, Willson said.
