From Times Wire Reports
A pipeline exploded in the village of Amore, Nigeria, as thieves tried to siphon oil, sparking a fire that killed more than 30 people, police said.
Police spokesman Emmanuel Ighodalo said at least 30 charred bodies were recovered after the blast Thursday, and more still littered the swamps and waterways surrounding the site near Lagos, making it probable that the toll would reach 50.
Residents, including some injured survivors, fled fearing arrest, Ighodalo said.
