Paul A. Miller, 79; Former Chairman of Southland Energy Firm

Paul A. Miller, 79, former chairman and chief executive of Pacific Enterprises, the parent company of Southern California Gas Co., died Saturday at his home in Los Angeles.
A Harvard graduate, Miller joined Pacific Lighting, which his grandfather helped found, in 1948. He was named chief executive and president in 1968 and chairman in 1972. He retired in 1989.
In 1998, Pacific Enterprises and Enova Corp., the parent of San Diego Gas & Electric, merged to form Sempra Energy, which has 10 million customers in the United States and elsewhere.
