Munch Museum gets makeover
The Munch Museum in Oslo, Norway, was closed this week for security upgrades, two weeks after robbers stole one of the world’s most famous paintings, “The Scream,” by simply yanking it off the wall in front of stunned tourists.
The bold daytime theft was the first armed robbery at a gallery in Norway, raising questions over whether Norwegians have been too naive and art security too lax.
The gunmen walked out the museum’s front door with art worth up to an estimated $90 million in their hands and drove off in a waiting car before police reached the scene. They are still at large and the paintings are still missing.
