Source Says Clinton to Have Surgery Today
Bill Clinton is scheduled to have heart surgery this morning, according to a source close to the former president who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Clinton has been hospitalized since Friday after suffering chest pains and shortness of breath. Officials at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan, where the operation will take place, have refused to comment.
The Clinton family issued a statement on the Clinton Presidential Center website, saying they felt “blessed and grateful for the thousands of prayers and messages of good will we have received these past few days.”
Clinton spokesman Jim Kennedy said more than 26,000 get-well messages had been posted on the website.
