Motorcyclist Dies in Mission Viejo

A motorcyclist died Sunday in a collision at the corner of Alicia Parkway and Via Leon in Mission Viejo, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
The victim, a man in his mid-30s whose name was not released, was westbound on the parkway at what witnesses said was “a very high rate of speed” when he struck a Volkswagen Jetta as it turned left, said Jon Fleischman, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
The motorcyclist was thrown 160 feet and died instantly, Fleischman said. The Jetta’s driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
