CEO of Immucor Under Investigation

Immucor Inc. said Chief Executive Gioacchino De Chirico was under criminal investigation for alleged improper payments to a doctor involving a subsidiary in Italy that De Chirico once headed.
The company, which makes blood-testing equipment, said De Chirico would step aside while the probe was continuing but would remain as president. The company is conducting an internal investigation as well. Board Chairman Edward L. Gallup will serve as interim CEO.
Shares of Immucor plunged on the news, sliding $4.14 to close at $26.28 on Nasdaq.
