Enron Gets OK on Deal With Regulators
Enron Corp. won court approval of a settlement in which it agreed to pay $35 million to resolve charges by U.S. commodity regulators.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission alleged that the Houston-based energy trader manipulated natural gas prices in 2001.
Under the agreement, which was approved by U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Arthur Gonzalez in New York, Enron will cooperate with the commission by sharing documents and other information about its activities before the bankruptcy filing.
The settlement will resolve part of the government’s investigation of Enron, including probes of accounting fraud and energy-market manipulations.
