Historic Dresden Church Gets Cross From Britain
From Times Wire Reports
The German city of Dresden crowned its rebuilt Frauenkirche with a British-made gilded orb and cross, a landmark step in the restoration of the 18th century church destroyed by Allied firebombing in 1945.
Tens of thousands of people watched as a crane raised a cupola topped by the cross to the dome of the Church of Our Lady.
British and American planes flew in the World War II bombing raid that killed about 35,000 people and destroyed the church.
