Jones Has 21 Horses Set for Champions Card

Paul Jones will be busy during tonight’s California Champions card.
The meet’s runaway leading trainer is scheduled to send out 21 horses during the marathon 13-race program.
After missing the first two races, Jones, besides his five runners in the Governor’s Cup Derby, will be represented by Flynby and Scoopmeup Willie in the $10,000 Sophomore Claiming Stakes; Manhood in the $18,925 Senior Claiming Stakes; Hi Patriot in the $26,250 Marathon; Splashinator in the $27,750 Freshman; Sammies White Chick and That Lovely Day in the $53,600 Matron; Sum Special Strawfly, Cee A Dash and Chicky Do Run Run in the $27,450 Sprint; Dealadash, Bobcat Bob and Deefirst in the $159,250 Spencer Childers; He Could Be The One in the $27,050 Jens List Memorial; and Looking For Chicks and Lethal Bay in the $334,000 Futurity.

Shots in the dark: Ipomea stretches out to 870 yards for the first time in the fifth. Special Queen Sa makes her first start since Oct. 3 for trainer Jaime Gomez in the seventh.
