Agency Presses Nation to Clarify Nuclear Program
The International Atomic Energy Agency rebuked Iran for past cover-ups in its nuclear program and warned the Islamic Republic that it had little time left to disprove it has a nuclear weapons program.
The resolution, adopted unanimously by the IAEA’s 35-member board in Vienna, doesn’t impose a deadline or directly threaten sanctions. But its harsh wording amounts to substantial pressure on Iran to clarify its nuclear program.
Bristling at the tone, Iran threatened retaliation, suggesting that it could reconsider its plans to suspend uranium enrichment, a process that can be used to produce nuclear energy or warheads.
