Fanfare: The eighth annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards are scheduled for Oct. 12 to 18 at the ArcLight Cinemas.

Motley crew: Production has started on the third season of the offbeat reality series “The Surreal Life.” The cast includes “cuchi-cuchi!” singer Charo; Dave Coulier of “Full House”; Public Enemy’s Flava Flav; Jordan Knight of New Kids on the Block; Brigitte Nielsen, the second wife of Sylvester Stallone; and Ryan Starr, from the first season of “American Idol.” The series, which begins Sept 5, moves from the WB to VH1.
