From Times Wire Reports
Tarzan now has something to thump his chest over in Transylvania.
A plaque in memory of the late Johnny Weissmuller, who played the lord of the apes in the 1930s and 1940s, was unveiled in Timisoara, the area where Weissmuller was born 100 years ago.
The athlete and actor had claimed that he was born in Windber, Pa. -- an assertion his son says might have been made to ensure his place on the U.S. Olympic swim team. Weissmuller, an ethnic German, immigrated with his family to the U.S. when he was 6 months old.
