Homeowners spend on improvements

Homeowners nationwide spent close to $125.8 billion on home improvements and repairs during the last four quarters, a 4% increase since the second quarter of 2003, according to Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies remodeling activity indicator.
“Job growth and increasing payrolls have enabled homeowners to undertake more discretionary remodeling projects,” said Nicolas P. Retsinas, the center’s director.
