Court to Rule on a Run by Chavez After Recall

From Times Wire Reports
Venezuela’s Constitution does not explicitly bar President Hugo Chavez from immediately running again if he is recalled, but the Supreme Court will clarify the point, the president of the court, Ivan Rincon, was quoted as telling the Caracas daily El Nacional.
Facing an Aug. 15 recall vote, Chavez said last week that if he were voted out, he could run again within a month.
His comments infuriated opposition leaders, who argue that the Constitution talks of “a new president” in case of a recall. Rincon did not say when the court would rule.
