Around the World in 80 Days: Clever. Crisp. Cunning. When describing the theatrical adaptation of the Jules Verne classic, a little effulgent alliteration is in order. The show is witty in the extreme. Chalk up this refreshingly bare-bones production success to the efforts of director Stefan Novinski, the ingeniously spare set by Donna Marquet and a sparkling ensemble cast that includes Tony Maggio, Kwana Martinez, Jeff Marlow, Larry Cedar and Morgan Rusler. They elevate what could have been a pedestrian chase to an inspired romp. Donna Marquet’s spare set ingeniously suggests the piece’s varied locales.
