Authorities Suspect Cougar Killed Beagle in Rancho Cucamonga
From a Times Staff Writer
A mountain lion is believed to have killed a beagle over the weekend, prompting San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials to warn residents of the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains of the potential danger.
The dog was found dead Saturday afternoon just west of Haven Avenue on Carrari Street in Rancho Cucamonga, said Mike McBride of the state Department of Fish and Game.
A similar attack that left two dogs dead was reported in November 2002.
McBride said residents should take steps to protect themselves and their pets.
