None Hurt in Fire at O.C. Apartment Building

More than 30 residents of a Santa Ana apartment complex were displaced Friday by a fire that officials think was started by someone setting off fireworks on the roof.
The fire, which started at 2 p.m., gutted the top level of the two-story building, said Capt. Dave Thomas of the Santa Ana Fire Department. No one was injured. Thomas estimated damage to the eight-unit building on South Pacific Avenue at $650,000.
He said his department has received many calls about illegal fireworks, but this was the first fire of the holiday weekend.
