Re “High-Speed Train Network Would Benefit State, Study Says,” Jan. 27: We are finally getting our buses, light rail, subway, commuter trains and now, possibly, a high-speed train linking obvious business, social and cultural cities of the state -- but our governor wants to “terminate” any chance of minutely catching up to our European brethren, who are decades ahead of us in their transportation infrastructure. California now surpasses many European countries in population, not to mention diversity of income, race, culture and types of businesses across the state. Let’s look at the high-speed train system as an investment in our children’s and grandchildren’s futures and look beyond individual, fossil-fuel vehicles to shape our cities, parklands, minds and souls.
