Girl in Hospital After Assault; 5 Teens Arrested

A 14-year-old girl remained hospitalized in serious condition Tuesday night after she was sexually assaulted by as many as five juveniles in Hollywood, police said.
The victim, found unconscious on a lawn, had a blood-alcohol level of 0.46% -- more than five times the level of intoxication for drivers, police said.
“This was extremely unusual -- the age of the people involved and the brutality of it,” said Los Angeles Police Det. Mike Thrasher.
The girl had skipped school Monday and gone to a party on Ardmore Avenue, police said.
The assault apparently occurred after she had passed out, police said.
Police have arrested five teenagers on suspicion of sexual assault.
