Man Armed With Hammer Attacks Woman in Simi

A Simi Valley woman was sexually assaulted in her home early Monday by a man armed with a hammer, authorities said.

The assault occurred shortly after midnight, when the 27-year-old victim heard noises in her home in the 2000 block of Cochran Street.

When she came out of her room, she was confronted by a white man, 20 to 22 years old, 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10, thin, with brown, spiked hair and wearing a brown sweater with stripes and khaki pants, authorities said. The suspect also had a mark on the left side of his neck, similar to a hickey.

After the suspect assaulted the victim, he fled on foot, police said.
