Victim’s Father Held in Attack on Driver
The father of a teenage girl who was injured in a traffic collision was arrested after he tried to attack the man who allegedly caused the crash while driving drunk, according to authorities.
Robert Edmund McCreary, 52, of Solana Beach went to the scene of the accident on Interstate 5 on Sunday, authorities said.
The driver suspected of causing the crash, Jesus Jimenez, 32, of Oceanside, was handcuffed and sitting in a patrol car, said Sgt. Tom Greenstone of the California Highway Patrol.
McCreary became upset and charged toward Jimenez with a knife in his hand, Greenstone said. An officer grabbed McCreary and he dropped the knife.
