Tests Verify Slain Lion Killed Bike Rider
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Forensic tests have confirmed that a mountain lion killed by authorities earlier this month was the same one that killed a 35-year-old cyclist and attacked and mauled a second rider hours later along a trail in the rugged Orange County foothills.
The test results, released Monday, confirmed suspicions that the attacks were carried out by the 120-pound male lion shot by authorities.
The Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park, where the attacks occurred, will reopen to the public today.
