Deputy Fatally Shoots Man Suspected of Armed Robbery in Moreno Valley
A Riverside County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a man suspected of committing armed robbery at the Canyon Springs Cinema in Moreno Valley on Sunday night, law enforcement authorities said.
The man allegedly threatened a theater employee with a handgun, stealing an undisclosed amount of cash and running from the theater at the Canyon Springs Shopping Center.
Sheriff’s spokesman Dennis Gutierrez said a deputy jumped the backyard wall of a home near the theater when he was confronted by the armed suspect and believed his life was in danger.
The deputy then shot the suspect, who died after being taken to Riverside Community Hospital.
