U.S. chief executives’ confidence in the economy eased last quarter, although optimism remained high overall, a business research group said.
The Conference Board’s measure of business confidence, which had jumped to 67 in the third quarter of 2003, dipped to 66 in the fourth quarter. A reading of more than 50 reflects more positive than negative responses.
The quarterly survey covers about 100 CEOs in a wide variety of industries.
